EU Delegation in Serbia opened a public procurement procedure for works on railway signalization on Niš-Dimitrovgrad- Niš Bypass railway and signalling and telecommunication equipment for Prosek – Dimitrovgrad section.

Contract includes the delivery and installation of singalling and telecommunication equipment for Niš Bypass and Prosek-Dimitrovgrad section, including the ETCS Level 2 implementation. Works will be conducted in accordance with FIDIC Conditions of contract for Plant and Design Build for Electrical and Mechanical Works Designated by the Contractor (FIDIC “Yellow Book”).

Works on 10.2 km long Sukovo-Dimitrovgrad section began in July. Niš-Dimitrovgrad railway presents a direct connection between Serbia and Bulgaria used for transport of large quantities of cargo from Turkey and Middle East.

Total cost of reconstruction and modernization of Niš-Dimitrovgrad railway line and Niš bypass is 430 mil EUR, out of which 108 mil is a EU grant.

Niš-Dimitrovgrad railway line is 86 km long.
