Srbijavoz Purchases Six New Siemens Vectron Locomotives

Serbia’s national passenger railway operator, Srbijavoz, and Siemens Mobility Austria have signed a contract for the procurement of six new Siemens Vectron locomotives.

The contract was signed by Srbijavoz Acting Director Ljubiša Pejičić and Siemens Mobility Austria CEO Matthias Hermann Koh, officially continuing the extensive project to modernise the Serbian railway fleet ahead of the specialised EXPO 2027 exhibition.

The locomotives will be manufactured at Siemens’ production facility in Munich, with delivery expected in June and July 2027.

The contract also includes full maintenance of the locomotives throughout their entire service life.

Srbijavoz Acting Director Ljubiša Pejičić stated that the locomotives will be used on the railway line to Budapest. He also expressed hope that, following the establishment of regular rail services to Budapest, Srbijavoz will introduce services to Vienna and other destinations across Europe.
