Contractor Selected for the Dugo Selo – Novska Railway Line

The Indian construction company Afcons Infrastructure Limited has been selected as the contractor for the reconstruction of the existing railway line and the construction of a second track on the Dugo Selo – Novska railway section, according to HŽ Infrastruktura.

This is the largest railway project in the history of Croatia.

The company’s bid, worth €677.06 million excluding VAT, was selected as the most economically advantageous offer. Once the decision becomes legally binding, the contract signing will follow. After the contractor is introduced to the project, the planned duration of the works is five years and ten months.

In addition to the complete reconstruction of the existing international railway line and the construction of a second track, the works will include the reconstruction of railway stations and stops, the grade separation or removal of most level crossings, the construction of noise protection barriers, the installation of new traffic management and railway signalling and safety systems, as well as the reconstruction and construction of new elements and equipment within the railway power supply infrastructure subsystem.

Upon completion of the works, trains on the Dugo Selo – Novska section will be able to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h.
