Srbijavoz, Serbia’s national passenger rail operator, has launched a procurement process for six new multi-system electric locomotives. The contract is valued at 4.69 billion RSD, or roughly €40 million.

The new locomotives will operate passenger services on electrified routes within Serbia, as well as on key international rail corridors through Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Greece.

The tender also covers maintenance for a minimum of eight years—or up to 1.2 million kilometres travelled—alongside full training for staff who will operate the new rolling stock.

According to the technical specifications, the locomotives must be capable of functioning under different voltage systems and must already have approval for use in at least three EU countries: Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Their expected operational lifespan is no less than 30 years.

Applications must be submitted by 8 January 2026. More details are available HERE
