Companies from the South East Europe (SEE) region took part in a trade mission to the Berlin-Brandenburg region, organised in partnership between Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie and the Railway Cluster for Southeast Europe (RCSEE). The visit was carried out within the framework of the European Railway Clusters Initiative (ERCI).
B2B Meetings Supporting Railway and Mobility Partnerships
During the intensive three-day programme, companies from the Western Balkans participated in a series of targeted business meetings. A B2B event organised by Berlin Partner enabled delegates to meet numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the Berlin-Brandenburg region, strengthen professional networks, build partnerships and explore new opportunities for interregional cooperation in the railway and mobility sectors.
Engagement with Key Rail and Logistics Industry Leaders
Alongside the B2B meetings with Berlin-based SMEs, the Western Balkans delegation visited several key players in the region’s rail and logistics industry. These included Behala, a major trimodal freight hub and an important component of Berlin’s logistics system. Delegates also visited Stadler Deutschland GmbH, where they observed the cutting-edge manufacture of railway vehicles and gained insight into the development of innovative technologies designed to make rail transport more efficient and environmentally sustainable.
Innovation and Advanced Railway Technologies
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (Fraunhofer IPK), participants were introduced to ongoing research projects and learned how advanced digital and production technologies are reshaping the European industrial landscape.
The programme concluded with meetings at LAT Gruppe, a supplier of mobility-related services including cable construction for railway infrastructure and passenger safety systems for public transport, and Talgo Deutschland GmbH, a provider of rail vehicle and tram maintenance services in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.
Strengthening Sustainable Railway Cooperation in Europe
As Europe accelerates its transition towards smarter and greener transport solutions, initiatives such as this demonstrate the value of regional collaboration. Strengthening connections between innovative railway and mobility clusters remains key to advancing sustainable transport systems across the continent.
